We’re Isla Sea Tours, a family-run boat and marine adventure company based in Isla Mujeres, where crystal-clear waters, gentle whale sharks, and vibrant reefs are part of everyday life.
Our story isn’t something we dreamed up in a boardroom—it grew out of a life lived on the water. For more than 23 years, the sea has been our classroom, our workplace, and our home.
Before tourism was his path, Juan spent many years as a commercial fisherman, navigating these waters long before snorkeling tours existed. Over time, his relationship with the ocean changed. What once provided a livelihood also became something he felt deeply responsible for protecting.
Juan made a conscious decision to step away from commercial fishing and move into responsible marine tourism—choosing to protect ocean wildlife rather than exploit it, and to share meaningful, respectful experiences instead of extraction. That decision became the foundation of Isla Sea Tours.
Juan’s son, Nano, quite literally grew up on the ocean. From a young age, he spent his days beside his father—learning the currents, the seasons, the behavior of marine life, and the quiet respect required to navigate the sea safely.
Everything Juan had to offer, he passed on to Nano: experience, patience, and an understanding that the ocean is not just a destination, but a living ecosystem that deserves care. Today, Nano continues that legacy, guiding guests with the same passion and knowledge he learned growing up.
