 Option 1: Start the Tour from Isla Mujeres (Recommended)

If you’re staying in Isla Mujeres, this is the most convenient and affordable way to join the tour.

• We’ll provide the exact meeting location and time after booking.

• Need help getting to the dock? We’re happy to assist in arranging a taxi service.

 Option 2: Pick-Up at Punta Sam, Cancun (Additional Fee Applies)

For guests staying in Cancun or nearby areas, we offer a limited number of departures from Punta Sam private dock.

• Must be arranged in advance.

• Includes an additional fee  dock  due to logistics

• Ideal for guests staying in central or northern Cancun.

Whale Shark Encounter

Enjoy a scenic one-hour boat ride northeast to the whale shark feeding grounds. Upon arrival, you’ll have the opportunity to snorkel alongside these gentle giants, always under the guidance of a certified professional guide.

• Swimmers enter the water in pairs to ensure a safe and controlled experience.

• Each participant can enter the water up to twice, depending on conditions and physical ability.

• Our expert captain positions the boat for the best possible encounters with the whale sharks.

 Return Journey & Additional Activities

After an unforgettable time with the whale sharks, we’ll begin our return trip to Isla Mujeres, providing snacks and drinks along the way.

• Optional Snorkeling Stop: Weather permitting, we’ll explore a shallow coral reef for 20–30 minutes. 

• Relax at North Beach: Upon arrival, enjoy a fresh tropical meal featuring ceviche, guacamole, chips, and seasonal fruit, with refreshing drinks available throughout the tour.

 Tour duration may vary depending on whale shark activity and sea conditions, if we are lucky enough and we are able to find the whale sharks early in the morning the tour can be 1 to 2 hrs shorter, we will alway be ensuring the best possible experience for our guests.

• Are whale shark dangerous?

They are not. That is why we call them Gentle Giants. This big fish is not dangerous or curious at all. They actually look like they do not care that you are swimming beside them if you respect their space while they are swimming around. You can feel 100% safe doing this experience. In almost 20 years of doing this tour we had never had an accident swimming with whale sharks.

• When is whale shark season in Isla Mujeres Mexico?

Season starts from May 15th to September 17th every year, but the best time is usually between mid-June and mid-August.  We recommend you to book your tour with some days left once here so like that we can give you more options to find the best day on weather conditions and tour conditions to make it the best for you.

• How many whale sharks are in the area?

When we are very lucky we can find about 200-300 whale sharks in the same area. The record is about 700 in a single day. On a very good day we will spot around 10 to 100 whale sharks swimming around all the area. Very rarely we are not able to spot at least one whale shark.

• Can I touch the whale sharks?

IT IS NOT ALLOWED TO TOUCH WHALE SHARKS. Its actually one of the most important regulations of this activity. We follow all the rules so like that we make the less impact to them.  

• It is 100% guaranteed to see the whale sharks in isla mujeres?

There is no guarantee at all to find the whale sharks, they are free in the massive ocean. Normally we are able to find them and swim with them 98% of the times but there is still a possibility that we can not find them. In that case you will not have any refund of any kind in case we do not find them. 

• Do you offer refunds or guarantees for seeing whale sharks?

Whale sharks are wild animals living freely in the open ocean, and their presence can never be guaranteed. Any company promising guaranteed sightings or refunds is often creating unnecessary pressure on their crew to “deliver results” at all costs.

Unfortunately, this pressure can lead to:

• Ignoring marine park regulations

• Stressing the animals

• Unsafe or unethical practices

• Can I get seasick? do you provide any medication?

Yes you can get seasick if you are not used to sea motion thats why we recommend to you to take any medication that may help you with this. Be sure that you are not allergic to them so it is safe for you to take one or two right before your tour starts. We do not provide onboard.
